Meals with Jesus is a series of 9 lessons in Luke’s Gospel that explore who Jesus chose to sit and eat with. He could have dined with the VIPs of his day, but instead he often ate with the sinners, the outcasts, the broken and the needy. Through these Bible stories, children will discover more of Jesus’ character as he showed care and compassion for the marginalised.
The lessons have been written to dovetail with the Meals with Jesus book of family Bible times so families can enjoy bite sized chunks at home while these key passages are taught at church:
Lunch with Levi (Luke 5:27-32)
Supper at Simon’s (Luke 7:36-50)
Big Picnic (Luke 9:10-17)
At Mary and Martha’s (Luke 10:38-42)
Best Seat in the House (Luke 14:1-11)
With Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10)
The Last Supper (Luke 22:14-20)
On the Road to Emmaus (Luke 24: 13-35)
The Greatest Party Ever (Luke 14:15-24)
The lesson plans are broken into separate teaching materials for 3-5s, 5-7s, 8-11s and mixed age groups, and include worksheets and handouts for parents to help start the conversation at home.
