Discipling A Child’s Heart
Come and explore how together, parents and those entrusted with the task of discipling children within the church family, seek to speak the gospel into the lives of children, for their good and for God’s glory.
Stream A (Ed Drew): Introduction to the child’s heart: A beginners' guide to Christian parenting
The only way to raise our children to know and trust Christ eternally is by engaging with their hearts and not just their behaviours. We will be looking at how we can make a start in doing this with our pre-schoolers, our primary schoolers and our secondary schoolers; both in the home and in the church.
Stream B (Sandy Galea): Discipling a child’s heart
‘…we’re responsible to be good witnesses to our children; we’re not responsible for their salvation… Our children are greatly helped by good parenting. But they’re saved by divine grace.’
(Tim Chester & Ed Moll, Gospel-Centred Family) God alone transforms hearts, but God chooses to use his people to influence others. Deuteronomy 6 instructs parents to impress upon their children to love God with their whole heart, soul and strength. So how do parents, along with the children’s ministry leaders in the local church, together seek to shape the heart of each child to love God and live for his glory? To intentionally, under God, seek to grow children who love God’s Word and whose first instinct in every situation is to pray. Children who have a love for the lost and a robust faith that weathers the storms of suffering and persecution.
